National Ploughing Championships

We recently spent a wonderful few days at the National Ploughing Championships 2017. For those of you unfamiliar with this event, the National Ploughing Championships is an incredibly important agricultural show here in Ireland.

It’s actually one of the largest outdoor events in the world. This year’s site was around 700 acres. 180 acres of land were required for ploughing and 100 acres for the multitude of trade and exhibition stands. On top of that, car parking required 400 acres and there was a demonstration area of around 25 acres.

Around 1700 exhibitors were there showcasing Irish food, farming and culture.  Over the 3 days, more than 300 competitors took part in various events. Despite the (sometimes) wet weather, visitor numbers were in excess of 280,000.

We certainly enjoyed our time at the National Ploughing Championships and will return again next year.

Watch one of our trucks transport a dairy herd to the event.
