Over the past 30 years, David Clarke Livestock has transported livestock all over the world.
Cattle transportation is a subject that David Clarke Livestock know a great deal about. Our lorries are frequently traveling across Ireland, the UK and Europe delivering top quality dairy and beef breeds to farms.
Animal welfare is something that our team is passionate about. Our experienced drivers and state-of-the-art lorries help to make the job of transportation as stress free as possible for livestock. When transporting cattle long distances, a suitable stop off will be arranged. (View pedigree Holstein heifers enjoying a break in Bordeaux.)
Global cattle transportation services
Over the years, we have certainly racked up the miles transporting cattle to farms all over the world. In some circumstances it has been necessary to use a plane. This was the case when a customer ordered Chianina cattle for their farm in the United Arab Emirates. It was particularly important to keep the livestock as calm as possible. Spacious, open-topped wooden crates were used in the cargo hold of the plane. All the animals arrived fit and well and are now enjoying their new life in the Middle East.
Transporting cattle by boat
On a trip to the Netherlands, we witnessed cattle being transported by boat. They tend to use a flat-bottomed boat called a 'scow'. If there are a few cows on board then a motor is usually required to keep the boat chugging along. In the case of lighter loads, the scow is rowed, punted or sailed. What a serene way for cattle to travel.
